Colorado Springs, Colo. -- Focus on the Family is serious about its commitment to come alongside local families as they raise their kids. That’s why the group is sponsoring the "Focus on the Family Fun Zone" at Security Service Field, home of the Colorado Springs Sky Sox, for the 2011 baseball season beginning April 7.
The Fun Zone will feature exciting activities – including a bounce house, a giant, inflatable slide and a speed-of-pitch game – for parents and children to enjoy together during each home baseball game. Single-use and unlimited-use passes are available on a per-game basis, with discount passes available for groups of 20 or more.
"Families that spend time together, have fun together and eat together are healthier," Focus President Jim Daly said. "And baseball brings families together – especially all the fun activities that take place during a minor-league game, including our Fun Zone."
Sky Sox President and General Manager Tony Ensor agrees.
"The Sky Sox are proud to partner with Focus on the Family to present the ‘Focus on the Family Fun Zone,’" he said. "Our goal is to provide the best, and most affordable, family entertainment in Colorado Springs as parents and children enjoy the excitement of Sky Sox baseball. This partnership helps us to achieve these goals."
Not only will the Fun Zone be a place of enjoyment, it will also be a source of support to parents. Focus will be handing out free family-help resources at the Fun Zone, including marriage and parenting magazines, children’s magazines, information about the free counseling and resources offered through its 1-800-A-Family number, and coupons for merchandise at the Focus on the Family bookstore. There will also be a lineup of special surprises for kids throughout the season, including guest appearances by the Adventures in Odyssey costumed characters.
"We hope the Focus on the Family Fun Zone will give local families a glimpse of what we’re all about," said Rajeev Shaw, Focus’ director of community relations. "We want them to see us as a place to receive trusted guidance and advice as they navigate issues in their marriages and raise their children so they can have a thriving family."
Best of all, the fun doesn’t have to end when the baseball game is over, Shaw added: Focus on the Family invites local families to enjoy its Welcome Center, which features free indoor play areas for children, a three-story slide, snack bar, puppet stage, toddler play area and free birthday party rooms available with a reservation.
