Diverse Pro-Life Coalition to Sponsor Life and Justice Conference
January 11, 2011
Colorado Springs, Colo. -- Christian pro-life and justice groups are banding together during Sanctity of Human Life Month to raise awareness of issues that relate to the preborn child, orphan care, people with special needs, the elderly, human trafficking and genocide. Sponsors hope the event will encourage Christians to take on a broad view of life issues and compel them to advocate for those who cannot speak for themselves.
Focus on the Family, New Life Church, Children’s HopeChest and iEmpathize are sponsoring the Life and Justice Conference, an all-day event to be held on Jan. 22 in Colorado Springs, Colo. The conference, which will be also available online via simulcast, includes representatives from the Catholic Church, the Presbyterian Church of America and other mainline Protestant denominations.
"Sanctity of Human Life and the notion of justice cross boundaries because they are heart issues. We see them as one call, with many faces," said Kelly Rosati, vice president of Community Outreach for Focus on the Family. "That’s why we’ve pulled together such a broad range of partnerships. We all care deeply about life and justice and recognize that no matter age or special circumstance, all humans are precious to God and deserve to be honored and protected."
This urgency to protect the dignity of human life will be evident as conference speakers will emphasize the need for putting faith and truth into action and integrating the sanctity of human life and biblical justice into everyday life and ministry. The dynamic lineup of speakers includes:
Kelly Rosati – Rosati oversees the Adoption & Orphan Care Initiative, the Sanctity of Human Life department and The Truth Project at Focus on the Family. She and her husband adopted their four children from the foster care system.
Brady Boyd – Pastor Boyd is a gifted communicator and teacher with a passion for sharing practical, relevant messages that equip and inspire. He is responsible for leading all the staff and ministries of New Life Church in Colorado Springs.
Tom Davis – Davis is the president and CEO of Children’s HopeChest, a global orphan advocacy organization serving orphans and widows around the world. Tom travels worldwide encouraging individuals, families, and churches to fulfill the Biblical mandate to love and care for the orphan.
Brad Riley – Brad Riley is the founder and president of iEmpathize, a volunteer movement of artists and the public collaborating to fight issues of injustice affecting vulnerable and victimized children. By means of media, research, and influence, iEmpathize creatively engages the public and effectively addresses needs in the field.
The Life and Justice Conference will take place at New Life Church in Colorado Springs from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. MST. In addition to informative sessions, the event will feature times of music, worship and prayer. The conference will also be available via live online simulcast and available on video Podcast after the conference.
